Websummit 2018 returns to Lisbon, super-awaited. 60.000 professionals, startuppers, enthusiasts and curious people will storm the streets of the Portuguese capital from November 5th to 8th, 2018.
Let’s get straight to the point: beautiful event, lots of things to do, conferences and parties. What can we say to those who have never been in the city? Here are my 10 tips to have a taste of Lisbon, if you don’t have time to read guidebooks or check Tripadvisor.
Where to eat in Lisbon
1- The first answer must be Time Out Market, aka Mercado da Ribeira: in small groups this is a must. I love it.

Croquettes.
2- Go to Tartine for breakfast. Nic and I are absolutely in love with they’re eggs benedict. It’s a resta-bakery where you’ll find lots of delicious specialties.

Eggs benedict…

… finished already.
3- In front of it there is The B Temple. HIgh-class Hamburger in a super-cool basement.
4- Lisbon is not Lisbon without a mind-blowing fish meal, at A cevicheria, Chef Kiko’s restaurant. Small, trendy place, with tastes you’ll never forget. While you wait for the table, get a cocktail to drink on the street.

Just a drink, then we’ll eat?
5- After lunch at A chevicheria, at the corner of the palace you’ll find Doce Real and its old ladies serving Pasteis de Nata in a small bakery that looks straight out from the ’50s. Perfect for pastry cream lovers.

Shopping hipster, traditional and tipical in Lisbon
6- LX Factory is a remodeled industrial compex just outside the city. Restaurants, independent shops and that hipster atmosphere that we love. I suggest you go there by cab: it’s cheap and fast.

Noooooo! There’s food here too?!
7- In the center, your souvenir tour can’t space A Vida Portuguesa. Beautiful and huge shop of house tools, food and tipical objects. Everything made in Portugal.

What if we also buy the furniture?! Maybe Ryanair will allow us to board them…
8- If you enjoy reading as much as me, you can’t miss the world’s oldest library. It’s Bertrand, in city center, built in 1732. It also sells sardine-shaped culinary books.
9- Embaixada, is a former embassy, Moorish style, in front of A Chevicheria. Artisans, designers, artists e stilists selling cool stuffa, and a beautiful cloister, for a 11 a.m. margarita. Brilliant!

Finally, what to see in Lisbon
10- Lisbon is perfect to be enjoyed on foot, even if you skip the museums. If you take part in the Websummit, you’ll be possessed by all the food, and drinks, you had the day before. Do not miss the Tower of Belém. The symbol of Lisbon and the perfect place for a walk in front of the sea. Or the ocean? Ah no, it’s a river. Whatever, waterfront it is, right?
